Alexa is extremely inconsistent for UK sites. I did some analysis and found that sites receiving 70,000 page views were around the 0.0001% of global reach, and another site gaining around 25,000 would rise to a reach of 0.0003%. Alexa does however follow traffic patterns of a site, but rarely from my data could it be considered accurate. Have a look: http://catn.com/2010/08/16/how-accurate-is-alexa/

Well, ABCe audit newspapers so they won't do you much good. And Alexa doesn't have very much data. So I'd go for Hitwise if you need proper insight about your competitors or indstry.

Then again, your link is to a claimed top-50 digital agency, so I kind of think you might know this. Tell me you didn't just leave that comment for a link, please ...

How does they both compare to Hitwise or does another data set complicate things further? I ask as someone looking to buy a premium stats / insight tool.

I wonder if they use browser language settings for estimating where the person is from? I know a few people in the UK that have left theirs set as en-us...
