Any thoughts on the new look?
So after months of indecision, I've finally settled on a new theme for my blog - after ruling out 99% of the other ones on my list having read this article on searching for free wordpress themes on Google. Yikes.

The new theme needs a lot of pictures to work ...
Anyway, if you spot any problems, don't like anything, wish something was here that isn't etc etc then let me know in the comments (unless it's about the small font sizes. I'm fixing them. God how many CSS changes do I have to make to fix that?!?). And as I've finally achieved a logo that changes on rollover, let me know how that works. Cheers!
Nice, I like it! If I wanted to be really pedantic though (and I do), I'd say the kerning on your logo was slightly off - the C on Coles being just a bit too far away from 'oles', but that really is just me being an absolute, utter twat.
Now you've pointed it out, it's going to annoy me. However, luckily, I want to change from using two images to get the rollover effect (as now) to just using one so I'll fix it then. I'm going to bed now though!
Nice improvement. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the way the right hand scrolling goes up and down automatically on the home page. Maybe leave it static with option for user to scroll it down.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm finding that annoying myself. Good to have confirmation! Think I may replace it with a static "what this blog is" explanation ...
Very nice new design! I like the 'newspaper' style with enticing snippets everywhere. Reminded me I need to start thinking about a revamp for mine - might refresh the blogging brain cells at the same time!
PS. Still laughing at Dave's comment!
Looks good Malcolm. I agree with Joanna, the less blog-like format especially on the home page is a good approach.
Joanna / Adam - I spent month searching for a very clean, cut down design. Then I though sod it let's go magaziney/newspapery. I plan to get rid of some of the clutter. And am currently mulling over changing links from underlined black to the more common blue. and about a million other minor tweaks.
The biggest problem I've had is that the content area is 60 pixels wider than the old one, so all the pics end up with text running down the side of them. I've bodged the CSS to fix this. Now I need to work out how clear works in CSS ...
Anyway, thanks for the comments!
Well, that headline is one way to make people click through from the RSS feed to the site
Very clean feel to it. I'm a bit fan of coloured sections for usability. The new Everest.co.uk site has a similar use of sectional colour themes. You make me feel guilty about not working on my personal site for a long time.
Looks great on a windows 7 phone.:D
I like this one. Designed by some dude in Bali if memory serves. I thought about using it, but decided the level of support wasn't good enough and my tech knowledge was too basic.
Very tasty theme Malcolm. Site looks very slick now. Could probably do with some minor under the hood tweaking as I see this page has a h2 and no h1... nothing major, but always good to have everything ship-shape.
