Cash Gordon: Do people REALLY not know the dangers of unfiltered twitter streams? 0

Posted on March 22, 2010 by Malcolm Coles

Update 2: You shouldn't go to the Cash Gordon site now. It will run any javascript you put in a tweet, and people are using this security weakness to redirect visitors to Google, the Nuts website - next could be a malware site ...

Update: As well as giving no thought to their twitter stream thing, it seems Cash Gordon aren't paying much attention to their Facebook page either, as the only post on it says it's a virus ...

You'd have thought people would realise the folly of unmoderated hashtag-based twitter streams by now (see Skittles etc). But not the Conservatives. Their new Cash Gordon site displays the latest tweets using the #cashgordon tag - with no filtering or moderation, as these screenshots show.

Can you get any old crap to feature on www.cash-gordon.com if you say #cashgordon? Or do they filter out words like crap?

This is probably explained by the fact that not much thought went into the site as they bought it off some anti-healthcare-reform US campaigners ...

Although it transpires this was a deliberate policy. I'm not sure the presumed short-term aim of getting the tag to trend is worth having swear words and anti-Tory messages all over your site?
