Well-researched!
I think the fundamental thing here is the blind equating of "after" with "because of". Th word "after" has become a potent innuendo for the press. Can no one accept the possibility (probability!) of coincidence?

What is particularly annoying about it is this approach is ANTI-science - not deliberately, but accidentally because of stupidity or laziness.

Astonishing and saddening the breadth of the variety of papers that chose to report it this way.

http://is.gd/3Nxgy

Dr Caron Grainger, joint director of public health for NHS Coventry and Coventry city council, said in a statement "it was most unlikely that the HPV vaccination was the cause of death".

The preliminary results , she said, "have revealed a serious underlying medical condition which was likely to have caused death. We are awaiting further test results which will take some time." She extended her sympathies to Natalie's family "during this difficult time".

I'd like to think that this will be reported in such large letters as yesterday's story, but I'm sure I'm being vastly over-optimistic.
