Event tyres review: buying tyres online
Four recent car journeys cost me a lot of money ... A puncture, a parking ticket (for meter stuffing, even though I only parked there for 45 minutes. Grrr), a speeding ticket and another puncture.
Kwikfit first: bad review
The first puncture was repaired by Kwikfit. I drove down there at 12, which turned out not to be an appointment as I thought, just an indicative time. I would have to wait.
They quoted almost £200, but when I pointed out the price was cheaper on their website, they said I could have that price (about £30 off) if I bought a print out along.
Somehow, I didn't feel pleased about the discount, just relieved I hadn't been ripped off.
Event mobile tyres: good review
So when I somehow got another puncture, I bought a tyre online instead from Event tyres - which was delivered and fitted at my house.
A van turned up at the exact time Event tyres said it would, the cost was £50 less than at Kwikfit for an identical tyre, and it was all over and done with in minutes. Excellent. I'd definitely buy tyres online again.
Have you used them? What do you think?
Thanks for this - Ive used event tyres too for my new tyres, and just as you said they were good.
I've used Event Tyres today - I thought the service was brilliant - competitively priced, hugely helpful (I'm a bit of a dimwit about cars, and had to ring them to ask where I might find my locking wheel nut adapter - they were lovely, in the face of my own dimness!), they turned up today exactly on time and were cheery and fast. You can't ask for more than that.
I have used Event Tyres as well.
Good price and ultra fast fitting...however at a cost.
After the fitter had left I noticed some scratches on my alloys, probably caused by the fact that he rushed the fitting.
I asked him if the tyre pressure had been checked and he said it was fine.
Again, when I checked the actual pressure one tyre was at 31psi and 1 at 33psi.
Would have gladly paid a bit more as the scratches on my alloys will be expensive to fix.
Also, my testimonial was not 100% positive but was not inclded on their website.
Beware!
please contact me I want to buy some tyres from you
Firt time I uesd Event they were just great, so I recomended them to my friends.
This week I tried to use them: booked for 13.30 at 16.45 I got a call to say "if I put my foot down I can be there in an hour", 4 hours late and dark. I declined and expected to get a call next day, but did not.
Sad to say I will now have to look to a new company.
Shame
I got tyres of wrong spec fitted by Event Tyres. Didn't notice for ages and they dealt with it in a way which was not customer friendly. Like you, I'll be looking elsewhere.

Hi we have just had new tyres fitted by Event, just have to say I cant recommend them enough. I have saved £130.00 from a quote from Qickfit and £200 from BMW. The young lad rang from his van to say how long it would take to get to me and he turned up on time and did the job within 25 minutes. Thanks Event for a great saving and a great job.
I recently used Event tyres & found them very good with great prices & friendly service, they asked for an honest response to their service,I gave them a positive testimonial but noted some trouble the tyre fitter had and an error of tyre description on their web page, they did put my response up. seems they will only include what they like in their testimonials which gives a very one sided view. I believe they would do better to give a balanced honest overview from customers responses and not censor out what they dont like.
Just a correction to my above comment - I said 'they did put my response up' when I meant to say 'they did NOT put my response up'
NOT a good experience this time...many things went wrong and I will no longer use Event Tyres.
I changed 2 tyres - booked online - the price and availability I cannot fault. I stated on the booking that I did not have the locking wheel nuts but the fitter came regardless and asked me to pay for the tyres even though they could not be fitted...
When the fitter returned (this time I had new 'nut keys') - he changed the front and rear tyres at my request (and charged £10 for it) - the car WOULD NOT MOVE after this - he did not know why but left the car and keys with my wife regardless!
After a complaint another fitter came and switched the wheels back. We had to pester Event to rectify the situation and finding time to go home from work each time they came was a great inconvenience.
The fitter offered a refund or discount verbally - "head office would be in contact" - despite this and several email from me - I have not heard a peep from them since.
It seems from other reviews that whereas once EVENT Tyres could do no wrong, now they are hit and miss.
I will not be useing them again.
