Express looking at wrong Twitter accounts in BBC attack 6

Posted on January 17, 2010 by Malcolm Coles

Update: They've confused follower and following numbers!

Original: Read this: http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/152233/Is-the-BBC-run-by-a-bunch-of-Twitters-

The BBC Radio 2 site, which gathers messages, or “tweets”, from presenters such as Chris Evans, Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr, has no followers.

The BBC Radio 5 Live site, run by presenter Victoria Derbyshire, has just two.

Then look at:

Looks like the Express looked at the wrong accounts. Also, please don't refer to Twitter accounts as sites, as it makes it look like you don't know what you're talking about.

Oh, right.

  1. Tom Telford says:

    Great spot Malcolm.

Worse still, they have disabled any comments on the article.

Worse worse still, they actually use Twitter themselves @Daily_Express so should understand the value it has to a publishing organisation such as the BBC.

  2. Gareth Molyneux says:

LOL Very nicely said. Typical of the Daily Express journalism.

Let alone... 30 tweets a day... so that amounts to... 15-30 mins a day. Woo hoo...

  3. Chris says:

Hah - the article doesn't exist any more... they must have realised what muppets they were being.

  4. Rob Thijssen says:

In other news, it was also discovered that these same presenters use mobile phones to send new-fangled technomalogical text messages to each other. The practice, known as texting, is known to be dangerous as it causes people to communicate with each other without the sanction of each individual license payer. In anticipation of the rioting in the streets that our late breaking news is sure to cause, we will be heading back to our hermit cabins where we have no means of dialogue with the outside world.

  5. Ola says:

This is what happens when your initial premise is 'attack the BBC/NHS/unions', and you frame the story round that aim. With bad/overstressed journalists. Who don't understand the medium they are writing about.

I've taken a snapshot of the page that I snatched from google's cache before they remember to take that down too. A slightly squished png image is available from:
