Guardian tops newspaper Reddit submissions 0

Posted on February 25, 2009 by Malcolm Coles

Read all about it: the Guardian has had more stores submitted to Reddit, the user-submitted news site, than any other UK newspaper website.

It's good news for the Guardian after the Times topped the StumbleUpon list, and the Telegraph topped the Digg league.

The following table shows the number of results if you search for each newspaper's URL at Reddit ever and in the last week.

The table is sorted by total Reddit submissions. However, the Daily Telegraph has the same number of submissions - 240 - over the last week as the Guardian, suggesting they are catching up.

As with the other findings on Digg and StumbleUpon, the Express, FT, Mirror and Sun have some work to do in engaging with social news websites' users.

Telegraph 14,360 240 Yes

FT.com 2,460 60 Yes
The Sun 1,820 30 Yes
Mirror 310 8 Yes
Express 270 7 No

(The figures slightly overstate the numbers as they will include stories submitted from other sites that include the newspaper URLs in their headline. There aren't many of these though).
