Oh no. I've just deleted half my blog 2

Posted on September 15, 2009 by Malcolm Coles

Ah. When doing a wordpress upgrade, make sure you don't overwrite the wp-content file, won't you. I just have, so I've lost all my images, plugins and lord knows what else ...

I could have sworn I clicked on wp-admin to FTP over. But apparently not ... Wonders if host has backups ... Wonders why only backed up database and not the wp-content folder. Generally looks a bit fed up.

  1. Andy says:

Fantastico does a great job of autobackup-upgrade for WP, but your webhost has to have it installed on your control panel. Else, I think the plugin is called WPBackup, which backs the whole lot up, and can restore back to any point.

    • I have a lot of trouble with my web host and writing permissions to folders - I keep having to change them to 777 and back again. But even with this, I've never got the auto back up to work consistently well (and I've never managed to get a single plugin to update automatically! Zzzzzz).
