Pleasure. Don't know if you read my other post about stationary / stationery but I suspect it's part of a wider change about how they deal with misspellings.

They're not all americanisations - I suspect the SEO example is just the one we spotted and got worked up about.

I presume it was a small test they were trying due to the seeming decrease in 'optimisation' searches, but as you say, there is no excuse for it really. Thankfully, it appears to be back to normal, for the time being at least.
