I love Twist. It’s designed to show trends in Twitter. But I use it to spot patterns. And these graphs show that the %age of tweets that contain ‘http’ (ie a URL) is just over 20%.
What’s more, tweets are more likely to have links on weekdays than weekends. And tweets at 10am are the most likely to contain links. (Mouse over the graph to see times).
%age of tweets containing ‘HTTP’ over last 7 days
%age of tweets containing ‘HTTP’ over last 30 days
NB These charts are dynamic, so if you’re looking at this in a couple of years’ time maybe they’ll show something different … And the graphs show things at your local time (so they are showing me 10am in the UK as the peaks). If a person in USAÂ tweets at 4pm (USA time) and a UK person at 11 pm (UK time), these both happen at the same time. A UK person looking at the graph would see both shown at 11 pm.
It was Twist that I used to show that more retweeting goes on at 4pm in my post showing that 4.01pm is the best time to twitter.
